Parenting Discipline: I Think I Can, I Think I Can
Today I saw a mom with exceptional control over her children’s behavior, and I felt like a shlub. She kindly offered advice in a way that was designed not to make me feel badly about the child flopping around like a flounder at the end of my arm. Her advice was wise, well researched, and I felt badly upon hearing it. It’s hard to take constructive criticism, and it’s even harder when your child is standing there proving that you need it. I felt like a farting cat sitting next to a multi-lingual seeing eye dog. She was so determined and confident, so I picked up a Shih Tzu and threw it at her. Their fur is long enough, so you can really get a good grip for over-handed maneuvers. After that, the flounder and I went home. She was nice though.
