    The NYT has written extensively about this, as well as potential strategies for dealing with it–follow-up calls/notes/emails, utilizing FB pages with yes/no/maybe. Personally, I think it’s rude, and more to the point, thoughtless. People no longer consider it obligatory to RSVP. Ken

    Some friendly advice,

    A good rule of thumb with regards to birthday parties is to let your child invite one friend for each birthday year. Your little three year old wouldI invite three friends. I will also venture a guess that your little guy would have felt as royal with a birthday crown on his head and a throned seat set up in your home. Fun for him and much less stress for the entire family!
